2012 YGP Showcase Gardens: Request for Submission

This year, the Yard, Garden & Patio (YGP) Show is inviting the community of landscape architects, designers and contractors to submit by July 22 a proposal to design and build one of the seven 2012 Showcase Gardens. The hope is to add additional diversity and creativity to the garden designs. Proposals will be evaluated on the following:

How well does design concept incorporate the theme and influences of gardens of the world?
Most innovative/whimsical design concepts
Which gardens will offer a varied experience for show guests?

The 2012 show theme is “Think Global. Garden Local.” and the Showcase Garden theme is “Seven Gardens of the World”, which we hope will offer creative latitude. We welcome your interpretation, for example, of a French parterre, English Cottage garden, tropical tea house, Mexican courtyard, Hanging Gardens of Babylon… Individual display gardens are approximately 1,500-1,900 sq. ft. in size. Each display garden will receive a $5,000 subsidy to help defray construction costs. Some plants, art and hardscape materials are available for use from show partners, but are primarily the responsibility of the garden designer/contractor.

Have your design talents be showcased to more than 25,000 homeowners and gardeners and garden media at the 2012 Yard, Garden & Patio Show. For more information, download the attached PDF and respond to Allan Niemi, YGP show manager (aniemi@oan.org).
