The City of Lake Oswego has several openings on its Community Forestry Commission, which was formed in 2000 to hear appeals relating to tree cutting permits. We do not have many appeals through the year, but need to have this board in place for when hearings on appeals are scheduled. The CMC holds public hearings on requests for public hearing or appeals concerning Type II tree cutting permits if the tree removal is proposed only for landscaping purposes as authorized by Lake Oswego City Code 55.02.080(1).
The Commission consists of five members. At least two members shall be certified or consulting arborists and two other members shall be arborculturalist, landscape architects, arborists or persons with other skills training or experience relating to trees or forestry. Three members shall reside in the City of Lake Oswego.
I am contacting you to ask if any of your members are landscape architects who might live either in or out of Lake Oswego, and be willing to volunteer to be appointed to this Commission. I checked with the staff on frequency of meetings. We have one hearing scheduled this coming month, but it has been more than a year since the last hearings was held.
I have attached both the application and the description that could be shared with potential applicants, or you can forward names and contact information of your members to me and I’ll contact them myself.
Any help you could provide would be appreciated.
