“It was a distinct privilege to be a final juror for the Festival of Flowers Charrette representing the Board of Trustees of Pioneer Courthouse Square. I was astounded by the quality of the work of the student groups whose designs comprised the four finalists. Each presentation focused on a strong and powerful theme, well executed as a design. It was an immensely difficult task to single out one of these designs as
the winning entry.”

“Having absolutely no experience whatsoever in the field of Landscape Architecture, we were completely impressed and amazed by the professional and artistic designs submitted by these students for Pioneer Courthouse Square’s 2005 Festival of Flowers. Every design was unique and must have required a tremendous amount of research, talent and hard work. We appreciate each and every student’s effort to beautify this public space that serves as the ‘living room’ of downtown Portland.

"I really liked the diversity of design ideas. The range of concepts made if very difficult to select finalists. Everyone who participated should be very proud of what they accomplished especially given the amount of time for the competition and that it occurred at the end of the term when studio work is most intense.
