Landscape Architecture Registration Exam
Sections of the Landscape Architecture Registration Exam (LARE) are currently offered four times a year. For sections C and E, applicants should register and confirm exam location, dates and costs with the Oregon Board of Landscape Architects (OSLAB). Individuals must now apply directly to the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB) to take sections A, B, and D of the LARE. Please visit www.clarb.org for testing dates and fees.
The following is general information about the exam. Please confirm this information with OSLAB and CLARB, as information changes periodically.
Currently, an individual may qualify for the LARE in Oregon by two methods. An individual must either have an accredited degree in landscape architecture or eight years of experience working under the direct supervision of a licensed landscape architect. An individual who qualifies for the LARE by an accredited degree will still need to prove at least three years of experience under a licensed landscape architect before he/she is eligible for a license.
Applications require submission of all school transcripts and work experience verification. The deadline to complete and return the application is 90 days prior to the examination date.
LARE Preparation Sessions
The Oregon Chapter ASLA periodically offers review sessions for individuals planning on taking the LARE. These sessions include review of the examination content and how it is graded, individual examination sections review, and study resources and practice problems. These sessions are open to both ASLA members and non-members. Fees include printed reference materials and refreshments.
Interested individuals may contact Education Chair Bhronwhyn Dean at bdean_19@yahoo.com or (503) 228-3122 for more information.
