Planning and Development Coordinator at Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation District (THPRD)

Position: Planning & Development Coordinator

Position Description: Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District (THPRD) is seeking an experienced professional in project coordination, recreation planning, capital development, or administrative support to join our team as Planning & Development Coordinator. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to support long-term planning, design, and construction projects, coordinate a variety of programs, provide vital administrative support for department initiatives and act as a department liaison for planning & development projects.

A successful candidate will have strong customer service and communication skills, the ability to independently identify and resolve issues, and expertise in organization and process management. Experience in construction, contracting, permitting or purchasing is desirable

The typical schedule for this position is Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, with flexible hours. This role will require occasional evening hours to accommodate monthly meetings. During the initial 3-6 month training period, the selected incumbent will spend the majority of their time onsite. Upon completion of the training period, this role will have flexibility to work a hybrid schedule.

Education and Experience

A bachelor's degree with major course work in park and recreation planning, recreation management, business management or a related field, or equivalent work-life experience, and three years of related experience. Lead work experience preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid Oregon Driver’s License, required
Possession of a valid Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification issued by the National Recreation and Park Association is desirable

The City of Sisters is soliciting proposals from qualified consulting firms to develop a Northwest Park Master Plan as detailed within the City’s Request for Proposal (RFP). Interested firms can obtain a copy of the RFP and any addenda by visiting https://www.ci.sisters.or.us/rfps.

Sealed RFPs must be received by Rebecca Green, City Recorder, by hand delivery at 520 E. Cascade Ave, or PO Box 39 Sisters, Oregon 97759, on or before 4:00 p.m. (local time) on February 20, 2025. Envelopes should be clearly marked “Northwest Park Master Plan RFP”. Please provide one (1) digital copy (no email submittals), one (1) original hard copy, and five (5) hard copies of the Proposal. The original should be marked “Original” and must bear an original ink signature by an individual authorized to represent the Proposer. Late submissions will not be accepted.

The City of Sisters reserves the right to reject proposals not in compliance with the prescribed procedures and requirements set forth in the RFP and may reject for good cause any or all responses upon a finding of the City that it is in the public interest to do so.

Founded in 2022, Understory Landscape Architecture is a women-owned firm focused on developing high-quality, meaningful landscapes throughout the Pacific Northwest. The Opportunity
This position is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of an emerging firm’s design culture and processes. We are looking for someone who has a desire to be involved in all aspects of Understory’s projects from concept development to construction observation and is motivated to advance in their career quickly. You would be a good fit for this position if you are curious, have an enthusiasm for design, are self motivated, and have strong technical skills. Although all of our team members contribute to all phases of design, we are looking for someone who excels in the technical phases of projects. You should have the ability to immediately contribute to work in all phases of projects including, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration. Prior experience producing design development and construction document sets and coordinating with consultants in other disciplines is required. The ideal candidate will have excellent technical documentation skills including construction detailing, grading, irrigation design, and experience writing technical specifications. The position will involve remote collaboration. The ability to work independently, self-edit work, and command a high level of accuracy is required.

The position requires a degree in landscape architecture from an accredited university (BLA or MLA) and a minimum of four years of experience working as a landscape architect/landscape designer. Professional experience using AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, Google and Microsoft programs and developing 3D models (Sketchup or Rhino) and renderings for design studies and presentation graphics is required.

This position will be full-time (40 hours a week) and located in Bend Oregon. We are a hybrid office and work in person together 2-3 days per week. We value work-life balance and support flexible schedules.
